Arno Visser

A.P. (Arno Pieter) Visser was appointed President of the Netherlands Court of Audit on 15 October 2015. Before joining the Court of Audit as a member on 15 January 2013, Arno Visser was a portfolio holder on the municipal executive of Almere and a member of the House of Representatives for the VVD liberal party.

He studied theoretical and comparative literature at the University of Groningen and previously worked for KPMG and NUON, as a press officer for the VVD parliamentary party and as a political adviser to the then deputy prime minister and later chairman of the parliamentary party, Hans Dijkstal (1994 - 1998 and 1999 - 2002). Between 2003 and 2006, Arno Visser was a member of the House of Representatives, where he was a spokesman on asylum policy. He was also concerned with higher education and science. Arno Visser chaired the parliamentary inquiry into persons placed under hospital orders on leave, established by the House in 2005. As a member of Almere executive council (2008 - 2013) he held the finance, operational management, services and culture portfolio.
