The Makandra programme in Suriname

The Makandra programme is a collaborative programme between the Netherlands Court of Audit and the Supreme Audit Institution (SAI) of Suriname. The programme runs from 2023 to 2025.

Why are we working with the SAI of Suriname?

The Makandra programme is demand-driven and concentrates on strengthening performance auditing at SAI Suriname.

The collaboration is funded by the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs. It falls within a larger ministry programme to build capacity at partner institutions and organisations in Suriname and strengthen good governance.

Bilateral collaboration

The SAIs of the Netherlands and Suriname are working on the professionalization of audits in accordance with the international standards and principles for SAIs, as published by the International Organization of Supreme Audit Institutions (INTOSAI). The focus of this collaboration is to learn from each other’s methods and experiences, with the key aim of enhancing performance auditing at SAI Suriname. SAI Suriname has selected two policy topics for performance auditing that the Netherlands Court of Audit will support.
