Modern government should provide more public insight

Five in-depth audits of government performance

Do the citizens of the Netherlands get value for their taxes? The Court of Audit has carried out five in-depth audits as part of its audit of the central government accounts for 2015 to see what impact government policy has in practice. The audits found that there is still a lot to be gained by studying the relationship between funding and performance. With a better understanding of the economic and social impact, ministers could make better policy, parliament could better scrutinise the government and citizens would have more insight into what happens with their taxes.
