Regional differences in long-term health care use difficult to explain

Government’s planned saving of €500 million uncertain

Regional differences in the use of long-term health care are difficult to explain. It is therefore uncertain whether the government will achieve its planned saving of €500 million on the cost of residential and at-home care provided to the elderly and chronically ill. Further investigation is needed to determine whether more efficient use can be made of residential and at-home care by reducing the regional differences.
