Problems in the funding model for mental healthcare

The outcome funding model introduced in the curative mental healthcare sector in 2013 has not lived up to all expectations. Outcome funding triggered a discussion between insurers and psychiatrists about the quality of mental healthcare treatment. But the quality of healthcare was barely considered when the healthcare insurers purchased care from the healthcare providers. Most of the agreements were concerned with budget ceilings.
