Strengthen the position of local audit offices
The Netherlands Court of Audit commented in a letter to the House of Representatives of 28 November 2019 on the need to strengthen the audit powers of local audit offices.
In the Court’s opinion, a bill currently before parliament to strengthen local audit offices does not give them adequate powers to audit subsidiaries of organisations that are funded by local authorities, such as the subsidiaries of regional development companies. The bill, proposed by the Minister of the Interior and Kingdom Relations, still has to be passed by parliament.
