Improvements in central government ICT projects, but further progress required

CIO: give priority to information underpinning policy

Central government's management of large ICT projects has improved since 2008 but further progress is still required. The position of Chief Information Officer (CIO) has been introduced at the ministries in recent years to act as a link between policy and ICT systems but it does not yet always function as intended. Better use can also be made of other instruments to improve the management of complex ICT projects, such as ICT feasibility tests and an ICT dashboard. The Court of Audit presents these conclusions in its report, Lessons Learned from Government ICT Projects 2012, published on 28 March 2013.
