Updated assessment of the cost to the Netherlands government of the MH17 disaster
The Netherlands Court of Audit submitted an update of the cost to the Netherlands government of the Flight MH17 disaster to the House of Representatives and the government on 26 November 2024. At the government’s request, the Court of Audit has assessed the costs incurred by the Netherlands government since Flight MH17 was brought down by a Russian Buk missile above Ukraine in 2014. A first assessment was published in February 2024 (figures to year end 2022). The update to year end 2023 reveals that the costs have risen from €166 million to nearly €199 million.
