Court of Audit calls for public accountability for EU emergency funds
Speaking at a public hearing of the European Parliament on 24 April 2012, the Court of Audit called for clear public accountability for the use of the EU emergency funds.
As a member state, the Netherlands is a contributor to these funds. A speech was given during the hearing on behalf of the Court's Board member Kees Vendrik.
The consultancy firm PricewaterhouseCoopers presented the findings of a study on the role of the European Parliament in the European emergency funds, the EFSM, EFSF and ESM, during the hearing. In addition to representatives of the Court of Audit, representatives of the EFSF, the European Commission, the European Court of Auditors and the German supreme audit institution spoke at the hearing.
