Hungarian Award

The Netherlands Court of Audit's President, Saskia J. Stuiveling, has received the Hagelmayer Award in Hungary.

The Award was bestowed on her for the many years' support the Court of Audit has provided to the State Audit Office of Hungary. The Hagelmayer Award is conferred on people and organisations that contribute to the more efficient use of public funds. Two Hungarians involved in the development of the State Audit Office also received the Award on the same day.

The Netherlands Court of Audit assisted the State Audit Office of Hungary between 2007 and 2009 and advised it on the conduct of integrity audits. One of the products of the assistance is the Integrated Corruption Analysis Map (illustrated with the aid of GIS tools).

The State Audit Office of Hungary also praised the EU Trend Report, which the Court of Audit has been publishing for many years to account for developments in financial management and funds flows in the European Union and its member states. It has inspired the State Audit Office to examine the use of EU funds in Hungary. Talks on such an audit and on innovation and audit techniques will be continued.

The Award was bestowed on President Stuiveling by the Head of the State Audit Office, László Domokos, in Budapest on 7 February.
