Transparency of the quality of care still inadequate
Patients still have too little information on the best care providers
Patients currently do not have the information they need to select a care provider, such as a hospital or nursing home, on the basis of quality. Several initiatives have been taken since the introduction of the Care Institutions (Quality) Act in 1996 to increase insight into the quality of care but they have not yet delivered the required transparency. Care institutions, care insurers and the Health Inspectorate make inadequate use of the available information to improve care, procure care and supervise its quality. The Court of Audit presents these conclusions in its report, Quality Indicators in the Care Sector, published on 28 March 2013.
