Cornelis van der Werf new audit director at Court of Audit

The Netherlands Court of Audit has appointed Mr Cornelis van der Werf as new director of audit directorate I

Mr van der Werf will be responsible for auditing the Ministry of the Interior and Kingdom Relations, operational management in central government, government-wide accountability, the Ministry of Finance, the Ministry of Security and Justice and the Ministry of General Affairs. He will take office on 1 October, succeeding Thomas Meijer, who moved to Horizon, a youth care and special needs education organisation, on 1 July 2013.

Previous career

Cornelis van der Werf (50) graduated from Erasmus University Rotterdam in economics and public administration and since 2008 has been a senior adviser at PBLQ HEC (The Expertise Centre), a consultancy for the public sector. He began his career as a research officer at the municipality of Rotterdam. He was a director of Research for Policy from 2002 to 2008 and was chair of the audit office committee for the municipality of Leiden for several years.
