Comments on the Ministry of Economic Affairs' 2014 agriculture and nature budget
The Court of Audit submitted a second letter on the Ministry of Economic Affairs' 2014 budget to the House of Representatives on 21 October 2013. The letter comments on the agriculture and nature part of the budget.
The letter considers, among other things, the amount that the Minister and State Secretary for Economic Affairs (EZ) have reserved to cofinance projects carried out with support from the European Union to implement the common agriculture and fisheries policy. If the €87 million that Brussels has reserved for the Netherlands is used in full, the Ministry of EZ will have to reserve nearly five times as much as the €8.8 million it has currently reserved in the budget. The letter also points out that more detailed agreements have not yet been made concerning the information submitted to parliament on the National Ecological Network (EHS).
The Court of Audit will submit a series of letters to the House of Representatives in the coming weeks with comments on the government's budget for 2014. The first letter with comments on the Ministry of EZ's budget was sent to the House on 2 October 2013.
The letter is only available in Dutch.
