Comments on the Ministry of Security and Justice's 2014 budget for the National Police Force
The House of Representatives received a letter from the Court of Audit on the budget of the National Police Force on 4 November 2013. The budget, good for €5,131 million, is part of the Ministry of Security and Justice's budget (€11,831 including the National Police Force).
In the letter, the Court of Audit comments on the following aspects of the budget:
- The budget does not clarify what ambitions the Minister of Security and Justice had on the formation of the National Police Force.
- The minister states in the budget what he expects the National Police Force to do. He does not state how much money he needs for it.
- The Minister of Security and Justice does not explain his responsibilities and powers regarding the management of the National Police Force.
The letter is one in a series of letters sent to the House of Representatives commenting on the government's 2014 budget. The letter on the remainder of the Ministry of Security and Justice's budget will follow later.
