Cabinet agrees to appointment of Francine Giskes to the Court of Audit’s Board
The cabinet agreed on 19 June 2015 to the nomination by the House of Representatives and the Minister of the Interior of Ms F.C. (Francine) Giskes (b. 1951) to the Court of Audit’s Board.
The appointment procedure will be completed when the Royal Decree announcing the appointment is enacted and Francine Giskes is sworn in by His Majesty the King. She is expected to commence her duties at the Court of Audit on 15 October 2015.
A member of the Court of Audit’s Board is appointed by Royal Decree for life. The other members of the Board are Kees Vendrik and Arno Visser. The appointment of Ms Giskes completes the membership of the Court’s Board again and the government can now start the procedure to appoint a President. The former President, Saskia J. Stuiveling, stood down at the end of May on reaching the age of 70.
‘We are pleased with the wide experience in management and governance that Francine Giske brings with her,’ said Board members Vendrik and Visser. Ms Giskes has been the mayor of Texel since 2009. Between 1994 and 2004 she was a member of the House of Representatives for the Democrats 66 party. Born in Delft, she studied economic geography and planning at the University of Amsterdam. Her previous positions also include membership of the board of the Dutch Advisory Board on the Administrative Burden (ACTAL).
