Additional funds needed to maintain dams and barriers
Parliament lacks information on budget transfers at Rijkswaterstaat
The Court of Audit has found that the Minister of Infrastructure and the Environment has underestimated the budget necessary to maintain and renovate the infrastructure of dams, dikes and storm surge barriers in the years ahead. A quarter of the additional €132 million necessary in the period to the end of 2020 for the main water system that regulates the volume and quality of water in the Netherlands has not been budgeted.
