Barbara Joziasse appointed to the Netherlands Court of Audit’s Board

On the recommendation of the Minister of the Interior and Kingdom Relations, the Dutch cabinet ratified the Royal Decree concerning the House of Representatives’ nomination of Ms H.M.B. (Barbara) Joziasse MiF as a member of the Netherlands Court of Audit’s Board on 16 October 2020. Ms Joziasse will succeed Francine Giskes at this High Council of State after she has been sworn in by the King.

The appointment will commence on 1 January 2021. The House of Representatives had proposed Ms Joziasse as the Court’s new Board member on 22 September 2020, acting on a recommendation by the Court itself.

Ms Joziasse (53) is currently the Netherlands’ ambassador to Amman, Jordan. She has previously been ambassador to Oman and Zimbabwe and has held a variety of positions at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Ms Joziasse studied Arabic at the universities of Leiden, Damascus and Oxford and graduated master in finance from the University of Tilburg.

The Board is the Court of Audit’s governing body. It comprises three persons. Arno Visser is the President and Ewout Irrgang a member.

The Court of Audit bade farewell to Francine Giskes during an extraordinary Board meeting on 15 October. She had been a Board member for 5 years and is standing down as she is now approaching retirement age.
