House of Representatives nominates Pieter Duisenberg as member of the Court of Audit’s Board
The House of Representatives agreed on 9 May 2023 to the nomination of Pieter Duisenberg as new member of the Netherlands Court of Audit’s Board. In doing so, it is following a recommendation made earlier by the Court of Audit itself to fill the vacancy that arose on the departure of Arno Visser on 1 January 2023.
Pieter Duisenberg is currently president of the Association of Universities of the Netherlands. He was previously a member of the House of Representatives for the People’s Party for Freedom and Democracy (VVD), where he campaigned for effective control of public expenditure and submitted proposals to improve parliamentary scrutiny of the government’s policy accountability.
The Minister of the Interior and Kingdom Relations will now put the House’s nomination to the Cabinet. The candidate will then be appointed to the Court of Audit’s Board by Royal Decree.
The Court of Audit’s Board currently consists of 2 persons: acting President Ewout Irrgang and Board member Barbara Joziasse.
