Appointment of a new President to the Netherlands Court of Audit
Mr P.J. (Pieter) Duisenberg RC will become the new President of the Court of Audit. Acting on a proposal from Hanke Bruins Slot, the Minister of the Interior and Kingdom Affairs (BZK), the cabinet has approved the nomination of Mr Duisenberg as a member of the Board and also as its President. The appointment will take effect on 1 September 2023.
The House of Representatives proposed Mr Duisenberg as a member of the Board on 9 May 2023. Following consultation with the Court’s Board members, on the recommendation of the Minister of BZK Mr Duisenberg will also be appointed President.
Pieter Duisenberg has been president of the Association of Universities of the Netherlands since 1 October 2017. He was previously a member of the House of Representatives for the People’s Party for Freedom and Democracy (VVD), where he campaigned for effective control of public expenditure and submitted proposals to improve parliamentary oversight of the government’s accountability for policy.
The Court of Audit’s Board currently consists of 2 persons: acting President Ewout Irrgang and Board member Barbara Joziasse.
