Netherlands Court of Audit open to visitors during Heritage Open Day and Tour of the Rule of Law

The Netherlands Court of Audit will be opening its doors to visitors for Heritage Open Day 2025 on 13 September. Visit our historic premises on Lange Voorhout and our new offices designed by architect Aldo van Eyck.

The Court of Audit has been housed at Lange Voorhout 8 since 1868 but the building and adjacent monastery church have a much longer history, dating back to the Middle Ages. The premises were enlarged in 1848 with the ‘General Ledger’ building designed by C.H. Peters and the new offices conceived by Van Eyck were added in 1997.

Visitors can follow a guided route with 6 stops explaining intriguing aspects of the building complex. Our doors are open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. You do not need to book in advance.

Tour of the Rule of Law

The Tour of the Rule of Law is also being held on the same day, 13 September. This is the final day of the Week of the Rule of Law, in which diverse institutions including the Court of Audit, the Council of State, the Supreme Court, the Senate and the House of Representatives open their doors to show visitors what they do. At the Court of Audit, you can sit at our Accountability Desk between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. and talk to our auditors about their work and suggest topics you think we should investigate.
