Supervision and enforcement: slipping through the net
On 14 October 2025 the Scientific Council for Government Policy (WRR) and the Netherlands Court of Audit will host a symposium to discuss the role and position of supervisors and enforcers in the public domain. To mark this occasion, the Court of Audit has published a report, based on 54 audit reports from 2013-2025 and identifying four central issues in these audits.
This report, Supervision and enforcement : slipping through the net, highlights the low detection rate for serious offences, inadequate exchange of information, unclear choices made in practice and lack of insight into effectiveness, while also describing how these central issues reinforce each other or impact on each other in some other way.
This publication has also been sent to the House of Representatives and the Senate.
