Parliamentary papers

It’s not always easy to track down the relevant parliamentary papers on the JSF. We have included a number of directions below to make the job easier. There are two types of parliamentary papers: those published by the Lower House of the Dutch parliament (broadly equivalent to the US House of Representatives) and papers published by the Upper House of the Dutch parliament (broadly equivalent to the US Senate).

Please note that not all Dutch parliamentary papers are available in English.

Parliamentary papers published by the Lower House of the Dutch parliament

All Dutch parliamentary papers may be retrieved from the official Dutch government website: www.officielebekendmakingen.nl. It’s not always easy to find the paper you’re looking for, however, This is because not all the papers that have to do with the JSF project are filed under the same file numbers. The Support Services department at the Dutch parliament decides for itself which file numbers to use and tries to be as logical as possible in doing so. In order to make it easier for you to find documents relating to the JSF project, we have summed up the relevant file numbers, each with a brief description, taking you to all the documents about the acquisition of the JSF and the replacement of the F-16. A number of parliamentary papers dating back to 1996-1999 are listed at the bottom of the page. These were published under old file numbers.

  • 26488: Analysis of requirements for replacement of F-16
Most parliamentary papers produced by the Lower House and relating to the replacement of the F-16 are listed under file number 26488: ‘Analysis of requirements for replacement of F-16’.
  • 33763: Future of the armed forces
The replacement of the F-16 is a recurring topic in parliamentary papers on the future of the armed forces.
  • 27830: List of materiel projects
The list of materiel projects that the Minister of Defence presents to the Lower House every year on Budget Day contains information on a wide range of defence materiel projects, including the project for the replacement of the F-16 and the acquisition of the JSF. The document explains the project’s role in the country’s defence policy and how it fits in with other materiel projects. It also reports on any major changes that have been made to the project since the previous year.
  • 31033: Monitoring the acquisition of the Joint Strike Fighter
Our reports and letters contain the findings of audits conducted since 2005, as well as questions asked by parliamentarians about our publications, and the answers to these questions. Do bear in mind, though, that the Lower House has filed a number of our reports under numbers 26488 (The financial processes relating to the JSF programme)and 33763 (Validation of the policy document entitled In the Interests of the Netherlands).

Parliamentary papers published by the Upper House of the Dutch parliament

The Upper House is also involved in the parliamentary process relating to the replacement of the F-16 and is kept up-to-date on the latest developments. In other words, the members of the Upper House also receive all the information on the project.
