Barbara Joziasse
Ms H.M.B. (Barbara) Joziasse MiF has been a member of the Netherlands Court of Audit’s Board since 12 January 2021. She was previously an ambassador for the Kingdom of the Netherlands, most recently in Amman, Jordan, and earlier in Muscat, Oman, and Harare, Zimbabwe.
Barbara Joziasse studied at the universities of Amsterdam (foundation year French language and literature), Leiden, Damascus and Oxford (Middle Eastern Studies, Arabic language and literature). She also graduated with a master’s degree in finance from the University of Tilburg.
Barbara began her career as a policy officer on the Middle East Desk of the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs. In 1997, she was appointed head of the Economic and Trade Division of the Netherlands embassy in Cairo, Egypt. She then became head and deputy director of the Centre for the Promotion of Imports from Developing Countries (CBI) in Rotterdam. She continued her career in economics as deputy director of foreign trade and investment at the Ministry of Economic Affairs.
Between 2006 and 2010 she was national coordinator responsible for designing and implementing policy to promote the appointment of Dutch nationals to top-level strategic positions in international organisations. During her ambassadorships she also worked for the regional councils and chaired the Council for the Missions, which represents all missions and advises the ministry’s senior management on request and otherwise.
