Pieter Duisenberg

P.J. (Pieter) Duisenberg was appointed President of the Netherlands Court of Audit with effect from 1 September 2023. He had previously been president of the Association of Universities of the Netherlands and a member of the House of Representatives for the People’s Party for Freedom and Democracy (VVD).

Pieter Duisenberg studied Macro- and Monetary Economics at Erasmus University, Rotterdam, and is a registered controller. Pieter has held positions at Shell and McKinsey and was Finance and Risk Director at Eneco. He was elected to parliament for the VVD in 2012 and stood down in 2017 upon his appointment as president of the Association of Universities of the Netherlands (UNL).

Upon his appointment to the Court of Audit, Pieter was chair of the Supervisory Board of Gasunie N.V., member of the Supervisory Board and audit committee of the Netherlands School of Public Administration (NSOB) and member of the Supervisory Board and audit committee of Stadion Feyenoord N.V. Pieter decided to stand down from these positions as they are not compatible with his presidency of the Court of Audit. His decision will be formalised soon.
