Audit of the transfer of youth care and social support budgets
In a letter to the House of Representatives and the Association of Netherlands Municipalities of 19 February 2014, the Court of Audit agreed to a request by the State Secretary for Health, Welfare and Sport (VWS) and the State Secretary for Security and Justice (V&J) to audit the budget that central government will transfer to municipalities to provide youth care and implement the Social Support Act (WMO).
The Court of Audit had agreed to a similar request by the State Secretary for VWS to audit the youth care budget last year. The key question in the present audit will be whether there is sufficient assurance on the reliability and justification of the data used to calculate the budget to be transferred. The audit will not consider how the macro-budget will be allocated to individual municipalities.
Publication of the audit findings is expected in May.
The letter is only in Dutch available.
